Lucy Day

Lucy Day is a founding member of the Breast Cancer Alliance and a former President. A Chartered Financial Analyst, she worked on Wall Street before becoming a full-time volunteer. She has served as Board Chairman of Community Answers, an information and referral organization that is a United Way Agency, and President of the Garden Education Center of Greenwich, a volunteer-run nonprofit organization. She has also been a regional chairman of the Garden Club of America. In 1999 she was honored by the YWCA with a “Spirit of Greenwich” award for “her vision, devotion, and accomplishments as a community leader.”

Susan Elia

Susan Elia was a founding member of the Breast Cancer Alliance. She was an art and architectural historian, who taught at the college level for many years. She was a faculty member of the Greenwich Country Day School, where she also served as chairman of the GCDS Parent Association and on the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Elia co-authored of Great Estates of Greenwich published in 1986 and of Greenwich Country Day: A History, published in 1988. She served on the Architectural Review Committee of the Greenwich Planning and Zoning Commission. She was formerly on the Board of Directors of the School of Environmental Science, Engineering, and Policy (SESEP) at Drexel University in Philadelphia.  Susan died in 2017.

Valerie Marchese

Valerie Marchese is a founding member of the Breast Cancer Alliance. She is President of Marchese Communications, Inc., a marketing communications consulting practice in New York and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Prior to forming her own business, Mrs. Marchese was Vice President, Creative Group Head at Lord, Geller, Federico, Einstein, Inc. – a J. Walter Thompson advertising subsidiary in New York. She also served as head of the St. Cecilia Girls Choir Council at Christ Church in Greenwich.

Kenny King Howe

Kenny King Howe is a founding member of the Alliance. In addition, she is a founding member of the Connecticut chapter of Cancer Care Inc., where she managed the annual golf outing, the group’s major fundraiser. Since the late 1980s, she has worked with the Bruce Museum on the development and membership committees. She formerly served on the board of Greenwich Adult Day Care. From 1960-1964 Mrs. Howe apprenticed for two interior design firms and in 1964 she started her own firm, Nancy Kent King Interior Design in New York. She has been established in Greenwich since 1969. In 2000, she received the Greenwich Times Louise Crisafi Community Health Award.

Cecile McCaull

Cecile McCaull is a founding member of the Breast Cancer Alliance and its second President. She has served on the Boards of Hortulus, where she was President, and the Garden Education Center in Greenwich. She is a former director of the Garden Club of America, a past President of the Junior League of Memphis, Tenn. and a former board member of the Family Center in Greenwich. In addition, she served on the Vestry of Christ Church. A 33-year resident of Greenwich, she chaired many highly successful fundraising events: the 1996 Breast Cancer Alliance Fashion Show and Luncheon, the 1994 Art Show to benefit Greenwich Hospital, and the 1993 Flower Show to benefit Hortulus. In 1997, Mrs. McCaull received the Greenwich Time’s Louise Crisafi Community Health Award. She now lives in Florida and North Carolina and is an Artistic Judge and Horticulture Judge for the Garden Club of America.
